Capital Letter provides court judgment summaries from New Zealand’s High Court, Court of Appeal, Supreme Court and Environment Court. It also provides updates on legislation, statutory reviews, general reviews and news. It enjoys a wide subscription base ranging from large law firms through to sole practitioners; in-house counsel within the corporate sector; and, central and local government entities.
Freeman Media purchased Capital Letter in February 2020 and since then the publication has transitioned into an online format which is proving a popular move amongst its 370 subscribing organisations who receive either a daily or weekly newsletter sent directly to their inbox. As part of the ownership change, new content has been added which includes expert commentary and opinion pieces from around the sector, general legal news and an industry calendar which includes information on sector events, changes to legislation and consultations affecting the industry.
In November 2020 it acquired resource management legal publication and directory, rma.net. In October 2021 it acquired The Judments Unlimited Express ('The Express') which publishes all judgments from the higher courts, in a briefer format to Capital Letter. Both of these products have been incorporated into Capital Letter. The Express is an additional subscription on top of Capital Letter.
