The popular New Zealand Energy Infrastructure Map is now two separate maps, one for each island. The new maps will display all previous generation datasets and points plus some new datasets from the discontinued Smart Energy Technology Map.
Launched in 2013 the popular New Zealand Energy Infrastructure Map was becoming cluttered through the addition of new generation plants.
The new North and South Island maps will feature the following existing datasets:
- Electricity generation assets
- Electricity transmission and distribution
- Gas production and transmission infrastructure
- National annual net electricity generation by fuel type for the past five years
- Generation Roadmap listing consented, in-development, and proposed generation assets
- Location of major end users
… and the following new datasets:
- Solar PV generation above 150kW
- Solar PV nationwide installed capacity
- Grid-scale batteries
- Advanced meter market share
- Electricity distributor profile data
Published annually, the New Zealand Energy Infrastructure Map provides a detailed view of New Zealand’s energy infrastructure and depicts key components of the country’s electricity generation assets, transmission and distribution networks, and gas production and transmission infrastructure.
The colourful map provides a clear, insightful picture of the sector. Data shown has been proofed and provided by the Energy News research team to ensure it is up to date and accurate.
The map is a large 1.2m x 0.83m poster and uses icons and colour coding to portray generation and infrastructure assets by fuel type, operating status and to distinguish transmission lines based on capacity.
